Economic Institute Vice President Jeff Bellisario spoke with Mike Colgan of KCBS on May 1 about the exciting future of a high speed rail connection between Fresno and the Bay Area. Reducing the commute time between Fresno and San Jose to just one hour, high speed rail could bring both population and job growth to the Fresno area. With far lower home prices in the Central Valley, many more people who work in the Bay Area would be able to buy a home if they could commute easily from Fresno. High speed rail service is set to begin in 2029.
The Economic Institute’s upcoming Valley to Valley report will dive into much more detail about the game changing role of high speed rail in Fresno, as well as the potential for stronger business connections between Fresno and the Bay Area
